An overview of the fields we could read.
This overview covers recognized fields. “Limited” means that additional data has not been fully checked.
View technical data
Metadata and browser information come from different sources. Copying, exporting and editing can change dates. We do not fill in missing time zones.
Raw metadata (JSON)
The embedded values actually read, safely normalized. Binary fields are described rather than included.
Metadata may be missing, edited or incorrect. Finding no metadata does not mean a photo is anonymous or safe to share.
Remove metadata from your photo
Choose which data to remove. Your original photo stays intact.
Removal is available for JPEG only. You can still view this format’s metadata and download a report.
What is removed and preserved?
Your selection: checked data is removed. Other supported fields are preserved. For multiple photos, your selection applies to each photo where that data was found.
Always omitted: descriptions, thumbnails and other additional data. Technical orientation and color data may be preserved; a color profile can also contain descriptive text.
Limited checks: we check the metadata this tool can recognize. The visible photo and its filename may also reveal information.
A download contains the displayed file information and metadata. Consider carefully how you store or share it.

What metadata is in your photo?
Metadata is information in the photo file, such as the camera used, capture date and sometimes GPS location. We show what we recognize so you can choose what to share.
Camera and capture
View the recorded camera or smartphone, along with settings such as lens, focal length and shutter speed.
What is EXIF data?Date and time
Capture dates differ from file dates. Discover where each date comes from and what a missing time zone means.
Capture date or file date?Location data
A photo may contain GPS coordinates. These can be sensitive but do not prove the actual or current location.

Do you receive or store my photo?
We do not receive your selected photos or metadata or store them on our servers. Analysis and editing run temporarily in your own browser’s memory, without persistent browser storage. You save downloads yourself. Read how processing works.
Why can’t I find EXIF or other metadata?
Not every photo contains recognizable EXIF. An app may have omitted metadata when sharing or exporting, or we may not recognize the fields. Try the original file. The visible image may also reveal information about you. See our photo privacy checklist.
How do I remove metadata or GPS from my photo?
Choose a supported JPEG and keep checked the detected data you want to remove, such as location or author. Create a new JPEG copy and read the recheck. Technical orientation and color data may remain. Other formats can only be viewed in this checker. Read the metadata removal steps.
How does this differ from the extended EXIF viewer?
This page quickly checks multiple photos and creates JPEG copies with less metadata. Our online EXIF viewer also provides deeper analysis of one file and reads additional technical fields.
Can I tell whether a photo was AI-generated?
No. Metadata may be missing or edited. This checker does not establish identity, authenticity or AI origin and provides no safety score.
