Frequently asked questions

Can every photo fit within my limit?

No. Content, dimensions and output format determine what is possible. The tool offers only successful copies within your limit; files that cannot meet it receive a notice.

What is the difference between resizing and compressing?

Resizing changes pixel width and height. Compression targets fewer kB or MB. Dimensions stay unchanged by default here; only in size-limit mode can you allow them to shrink.

Is this lossless compression?

No. This tool creates lossy JPG or WebP images. You can compare the result. Your original file is preserved.

How do I make a photo smaller than 1 MB or 500 kB?

Choose Maximum file size and enter 1000 kB for 1 MB, or 500 for 500 kB. Choose JPG or WebP and inspect the result. The limit may be unattainable; allow smaller pixel dimensions if needed.
