How to use this photo tool

An image converter changes the file type. The best choice depends on the recipient: JPG for broad support, PNG for transparency, or PDF if a form requires it. Conversion does not add detail.

Common conversions

WebP to JPG

Open your WebP and choose JPG for an application that does not accept WebP. JPG does not support transparency, so choose a suitable background color.

PNG to JPG

Choose JPG when you need that file type for a photo or screenshot. Transparent areas take the chosen background color; JPG uses lossy compression.

JPG to PNG

Choose PNG if that format is required. This avoids further lossy compression of the decoded pixels but does not recover detail already lost from the JPG.

JPG to PDF

Choose PDF to place your photo on an A4 page. Each selected image gets its own PDF file; this tool does not combine photos into one document.

HEIC to JPG or PNG

Create a JPG copy of an iPhone photo for a form, or choose PNG. Decoding takes place locally. Colors may differ from the HDR display on your phone.

Frequently asked questions

Is transparency preserved?

PNG, WebP, AVIF, TIFF and ICO support transparency. JPG, BMP and PDF use the chosen background color. GIF supports only fully transparent or opaque pixels; semitransparent edges are blended against the chosen color.

Can I convert HEIC to JPG or PNG?

Yes. Choose your HEIC or HEIF photo, then JPG or PNG. We use the primary still image, not Live Photo video, depth data or HDR. Not every HEIF variant is supported. RAW is not supported.

Will choosing TIFF or PNG make my JPG sharper?

No. Conversion does not create missing detail, original RAW data or extra color depth. TIFF and PNG only avoid further lossy compression of the pixels read by the browser.

Does the tool make animated GIFs?

No. GIF output contains one still image with up to 256 colors.

Why do I sometimes see only an image preview?

Not every browser displays TIFF, ICO or PDF like an ordinary image. You then see a preview of the pixels. Open the downloaded file in a suitable app to view the actual file.
